21. ANN3 MCCLINTOCK (Hugh2, Francis1); born 1785 in eastern Pennsylvania; died 1880 in Venango County, place of burial not known; married ANDREW FLEMING, born 16 January 1778 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania; died 14 October 1832 in Venango County; buried Miller Farm Cemetery.106 .Their children were (a) Hugh Fleming. (b) Sarah Fleming (Shreve). (c) Rachel Fleming( Henderson). (d) Zibiah Fleming (Parshall). (e) John Fleming. (f) Andrew Fleming. For information on Andrew and Ann (McClintock) Fleming and their descendants, see Andrew Fleming #2" in the Fleming web site. 23. JAMES3 MCCLINTOCK (Hugh2, Francis1); born 11 March 1792; died 13 September 1887 in Holmes County Ohio; married MARY CLARK, born 14 March 1803; died 5 October 1871.107 James was mentioned in the 1814 Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, Orphan’s Court Docket 5. Possibly, indeed probably, the parents of James McClintock who married Mary Clark were Walter and Isabella (Moore) McClintock as reported in some Ancestry.com family trees. If so, he would not be the James McClintock of our line. They also report James McClintock's wife as Mary Clark, born 1803. I can not resolve this. For this reason, I have not attempted to find and report subsequent generations of James and Mary (Clark) McClintock. For now, will retain the numbering sequence.
24. ISABELLA3 MCCLINTOCK (Hugh2, Francis1), born in eastern Pennsylvania, probably present–day Perry County, birth date not known, but listed as a minor (under 21) in 1814, the year of the Cumberland County Orphans Court petition. 108 Isabella McClintock has been reported as probably marrying Nathaniel Carey (see #1 of “Notes on Nathaniel Carey”), an early pioneer of the lower Oil Creek area, Venango County. However, assuming that the 1814 Cumberland County Court petition is accurate, that is “… Isabella and John that last mentioned of whom are still in their minority,” Isabella McClintock could not have been the mother of Nathaniel Carey’s children. Even assuming she was 20 in 1814, she would have only been an infant when Nathaniel’s first child was born in 1795. Although the above phrase mixes both the singular and the plural, the intent would indicate both Isabella and John were in their minority. The Isabella who married Nathaniel Carey was born circa 1765–1776.109 Further research might show that Isabella McClintock was Nathaniel Carey’s wife, but until then, my premise is that Isabella McClintock, daughter of Hugh and Ann McClintock, was not the wife of Nathaniel. According to Ruth R. Heasley,110 a descendant and long–time researcher of Nathaniel Carey, and Director–Genealogist of the Venango County Historical Society, she and other Carey family researchers have been unable to prove Isabella McClintock was the wife of Nathaniel Carey. The 1982 McFate et al. genealogy111 is based in part on material gathered before 1905. Even at this early time there apparently was information indicating Isabella was not a McClintock. This is what McFate et al. (1982), page 74, reports (when listing William McKissick who married Isabelle Carey): “… ISABELLE CARY daughter of Nathaniel and Isabella (Culbertson?) Carey, born circa 1804, Pa.” But Nathaniel’s wife obviously did had a McClintock or Culbertson connection, see the section “Notes on Nathaniel Carey.”26. ALEXANDER3 MCCLINTOCK (William2, Francis1), born 10 May 1776; married [—?—]. Probably Alexander was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, as indicated by the excerpt below taken from page 87 of Genealogical and personal history of western Pennsylvania, page 86; edited by John W. Jordan, New York: Lewis Historical Publishing Company, 1915; online at (http://digital.library.pitt.edu/cgi-bin/t/text/text-idx?idno=01aee8434m;view=toc;c=pitttext). Jordan (1915), page 87, notes that Oliver McClintock was "the eldest son of seven children of Washington and Eliza (Thompson) McClintock. His [Oliver's] paternal grandfather, Alexander McClintock, son of William McClintock, of East Nottingham township, Chester county Pennsylvania, was born May 10, 1776. He came to Pittsburgh from Montgomery county, Pennsylvania about 1813, having in engaged in the freighting business by means of the famous "Conestoga" wagon teams between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. ... Soon after arriving in Pittsburgh with his family in one of these "Conestoga" wagons, he [Alexander] opened a shop for general blacksmithinng on Liberty street near Water. His shop, tavern and frame residence alongside lay within the confines of Fort Pitt. He also, for a while, operated for his friend Samuel Black, of Williamsport, now Monongahela City, a tavern from the foot of Smithfield street to the south bank of the Monongahela river, but he finally purchased the ferry for himself."In 1850 and 1860, Alexander, apparently a widower, was living with his son Washington and family in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
29. FRANCIS3 MCCLINTOCK (Alexander2, Francis1), born 15 March 1768; died 180?; married MARY PIERSON, born 1770; died 1864.113
30. JAMES3 H. MCCLINTOCK (Alexander2, Francis1) born 1 November 1776; died 1811; married 4 August 1799 MARTHA BULL, born 20 February 1779; died 12 March 1850.114 James McClintock lived in Coventry (?Coventryville, South Coventry Township), Chester County, Pennsylvania. James’s will115 mentions mother, Sarah May, daughter Ann, nephew Robert May, uncle Robert May (he was also executor along with Michael Lynch), friends Levi Hollingsworth and S. Paschall (merchant of Philadelphia) and “my old master Amos Wickersham.” Witnesses were Thomas Church, John Davis and Alben Heald. Perhaps Alben Heald was related to Albin Heald [Sr.] and Albin Heald [Jr.], the grandfather and father of Jerome Heald, husband of Lillie (Fleming) Heald (see #110 of “Flemings”). Children of James and Martha (Bull) McClintock: (a) Thomas Bull McClintock, born 6 June 1804; died 7 June 1804. (b) Sarah May McClintock, born 16 September 1805; died 1 December 1807. (c) Ann Hunter McClintock, born 4 June 1808; died 17 July 1834; married 2 August 1831 Joseph Neide; died November 1878. 31. MARY3 MCCLINTOCK (Alexander2, Francis1), born circa 1760s or 1770s; married 8 May 1791 DR. JOSEPH ROSS.116 .
